For far too many youth, summer is a 6-10 week vacation from learning. This often means a "summer brain drain" when they return to school for the fall. On average, most students score lower at the end of summer vacation than they did on the same tests at the beginning of the vacation with the lowest scores in math and reading.
The BGCMP plays a powerful role in making summer a time for learning and developmental gains by using high-yield learning activities. These activities effectively transform the entire Club into a "learning center," providing youth the opportunity to learn while participating in different activities such as baseball and basketball where they not only learn the basics of the game but also the history of the game.
