Economic Impact Study: Clubs critically important in our community
Impacting Kids, Impacting Communities… Great Futures start here!

Your investment in the Club truly changes lives! In fact, every $1 spent by the Clubs generates $19.33 annual community impacts.

This summer, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix commissioned an independent study to measure the positive impacts that our Clubs have on the communities we serve. The independent research study, funded by a restricted grant from the Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust was conducted by Damooei Research confirmed that Boys & Girls Clubs have a significant positive impact on the community. In fact, Club participation is directly connected to:

  • Increased high school graduation rates
  • Reduction in juvenile crime rates, teen pregnancy, and substance abuse

What Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix Parents are Saying:

  • 80% say that their children have improved their school performance
  • 85% feel that their children have shown more interest in exercise
  • 66% feel they make better choices about food and drink
  • 94% work outside the home and 83% say that the clubs enable them to keep their job.

Now that’s an investment worth making!

116 Club Kids go Back-to-School Shopping!

On Wednesday, August 17th, 116 Club kids went Back-to-School Shopping with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix Board of Directors. Held at the JCPenney inside Paradise Valley Mall, the event helped to ensure that kids had the clothes, shoes and other necessities they needed to enter the classroom confident and ready to learn!

ei

"A lot of families can’t afford the basics right now, but the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix is able to help so that kids are prepared to learn," said Kevin McHolland, a Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix Board Member who was paired with Thomas, a bubbly 8-year-old Club kid from Phoenix. "[This event] is about so much more than the clothes and shoes or other things… it’s an opportunity to bond with a child, share a meal, and hopefully make a real difference in their lives".

Clubs Celebrate ‘Day for Kids’

This month, thousands of youth and families across Phoenix and the West Valley enjoyed food, games and family fun as our Clubs celebrated Boys & Girls Clubs Day for Kids, a national initiative that encourages kids and families to spend quality time together building stronger relationships. All twelve Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix Branches hosted free festivities that included carnival games, food, movies, arts and crafts, indoor/outdoor sports, picnics, and of course, tons of family fun!

These events would not be possible without the support and generosity of our wonderful volunteers. At this year’s Day for Kids celebrations alone, volunteers assisted with everything from event logistics to serving food and supervising games and activities. Thank you 3M, University of Phoenix, Inventure Foods, MetrOrg, Arizona Diamondbacks, Old Navy, ACSS, Ross Stores, US Airways, Valley of the Sun United Way, and other volunteers for your support of our Day for Kids festivities!

Congratulations, Vanessa Matta the August FS Arizona Character Counts Kid of the Month!
